Happy Thanksgiving and Game Hunting Feast in Dallas
Happy Thanksgiving and God Bless my fellow readers, listeners, followers, and subscribers. I hope you and your families are safe and well! I am sure you all enjoyed good time together and great food over the holiday break.
It was a different Thanksgiving for me first of all I wasn’t in the process of moving with my partner. This was a nice change of pace enjoying time with my goddaughter in Dallas and enjoying an amazing steak dinner instead of being on the road during the holiday and moving from CA to TX.
So without further ado, let’s get into the games. After, me and my partner enjoy the area and food I went to do some game hunting. I went to three game stores and trust me I barely scratched the surface and I plan to come back again.
The first store up is Retro Madness. This was a small store in Bedford, TX near Dallas and it was located in a small shopping center with a record store and mini arcade. The owner and store was small but pretty cleaned. It was stocked with toys from the 80s to 90s vintage toys such as transformers, ninja turtles, gi joe, and much more. It also has a section for games in the front of the store. It was a mix of Atari, NES, handheld games, and some modern with PS4/Xbox One. It was a decent selection and I picked up a few things. The best part for me was the plushies and toys. Overall, I recommend you level up and check this store out if your a collector or fan of video games or vintage toys.
The next stop on our journey takes us to Denton, TX which is about 40-45 mins from Fort Worth, TX where our hotel was located. It was a fun drive and the store was small but full of retro goodness. The store owner was easy to talk to, knowledgeable, and open on game condition. The store owner was very open and mentioned if your not comfortable with it your not obligated to buy. This is a great feeling from a customer service perspective and overall feeling of being a consumer. It had a mix of retro and modern. The standouts for me were the SNES, Game Gear, and Nintendo 64 in terms of modern. They also had PS4/Xbox One and Atari so definitely mix across the spectrum. The boxes along the wall of the old systems and toys helped create a fun ambience for shopping and being enveloped in the past and childhood memories. My overall recommendation I would level up and check this out.
Finally, the last store is FX Console Games and Repair was the last stop and this one I will be frank was kinda a disappointment. I did pickup some games but it was pretty small the smallest of the three. It has a small rack of games mostly PS2 and Xbox. They did have some handheld games on the back wall and Wii/Wii U but nothing crazy good. It was a lot of leftovers meaning a lot of sports games or games just not all that exciting. They also had some systems for sale like the previous two stores so that was one plus that it had going for it. Overall, I would recommend de-leveling on this store. It is nice if your just getting started but if your a seasoned collector such as myself it can leave something to be desired.
I look forward to more game hunting in Dallas! I hope you enjoyed my review of my game hunting and shops I visited and if you live in the Dallas area what game stores have you visited? What would you recommend? Leave your comments below.
