Lost Judgment - A Return to Glory! Review
Lost Judgment is the latest entry and sequel to the successful entry in the Yakuza spin-off series. Albeit, at the time of writing this review I have yet to complete the original Judgment. However, this game does an amazing job of entrancing new players and old players.
You return as Yagami a detective who is out to solve another mystery as a murder crime is committed. A mysterious woman, bullying, school drama, and much more are at play in this Japanese drama tale of mystery and intricacies. The combat mechanics return alike Yakuza 0 and the original entry of fast paced action, combos with variety in play style between Snake, Tiger, and Crane. They variate in style from kicking, punching, and balanced. This will serve you well as you tackle different ex-Yakuza and the other gangs on the streets of Ijincho and Kamurocho. The setting as I played was very familiar as I just finished playing Yakuza: Like A Dragon so it felt like a return home to similar environments, places, and the setting.
The story is very cinematic and filled with fun and interesting characters that you will grow to love along the way. Each chapter brings more clues and has a vice of hooking you to the next part of the story. I found myself also enjoying the side content which I plan to play more of in the future. You get involved in the lives of the citizens and it’s fun to see how you help them grow and level up as people. It’s truly a game that spoke to me from the lessons and reality of bullying where we can be entertained but also intellectually be educated on the morals and how to handle this harsh reality. The courage that is needed to stand up for your identity and beliefs.
I highly recommend you level up with this one! If you enjoyed the previous or the Yakuza games then this is more of the same with a great story, amazing characters, and a mystery to solve with a great twist and turn from chapter to chapter. I was hooked from the start and it will grow on you fast as your journey goes from start to finish.
The main story is about 30 hrs with close to 100+ hrs if you complete all the side cases and school cases around town. Overall, a great time is had and value for the money in a day and age where you get less for your initial purchase. This game as many in the series provides value and depth!
